Tips for beginners

You don't need many supplies to get started with crochet. I will tell you exacly what do you need for your project, so don't buy anything yet. The basics you'll need include a crochet hook, some yarn or thread, a pair of scissors, and a needle to saw in yarn knots.

  •  Best yarns for begginers. Choose not expensive, easy care, one color (multiple color may be difficoult to count stitches in the begining), worsted weight, (they’re a medium thickness, and they will work up quickly without being bulky).
  • Size of hook. Start with a beginner bigger size like a 5 or 6, you can see your stitches better. The smaller the hook, the smaller the stitches and the harder they are to see.
  • Holding hook, and the yarn. It is very difficult in the beginning to hold the hook,.. and the yarn seems to always slips away between your fingers, but experience will come with the time, so please be patient. I am all about the joy of  crocheting rather than worrying to much. I always try to finding new tricks to hide any mistakes, and easier ways to deal with problems that came up along the way. My advise to you is: just grab the hook and crochet, all the answers will come with time.
  • There is no right or wrong. Some people hold the yarn too tightly, some very loose. Some people stay with the pattern, other always change some things, but there is no right or wrong; it’s what works best! So don’t be afraid to try something new.
  • Learn crochet symbols. Reading them is super EASY, abbreviations are long and confusing
  • Always count your stitches. The most common problem crocheters have trouble with is maintaining a stitch count. Most of the time mistakes are made at the beginning or the end of the row/round.
  • Use the yarn that you like. Make sure you like color and texture then you’ll love the finished product.
  • Finish off ends. Hide knots bad piece, or chunky yarn.  The worst present for the baby: ripping of blanket.
  • Do not waist you time to for surching perfect learning book, or crochet magasine if you are just starting. You will get confused with abriviations, and symbols. Also very often people who wright  this stuff just copy what they see. They don't know what they are writing about. I myself found a lot of mistakes in books, and magasines. My best advise to you is to start with simple project, (check "projects for begginers), and you will learn everything that you need with the time.
  • I love to make crochet, and teach others this great art. If this blog is any help to you please leave your comment
